Laber

Enjoy a trip with the nostalgic funicular in Oberammergau up to the Laber. From the Oberammergau district of St. Gregor, take a cable car up to the 1684 m high Laberkuppe.
The Laber, Oberammergau’s local mountain, might not be one of the highest peaks in the Bavarian Alps, but it is certainly one with the best views.

You can see far into the distance from a balcony of the foothills of the Alps with many lakes and, when the weather is good, you can see even further north than Munich. The Ester Mountains with Wank, Fricken and Krottenkopf, the Wetterstein Mountains and the Ammergau Alps form the impressive mountain arena on the other side from east to west via the south.

Hiking on the Laber

The Ettaler Manndl can be reached easily from the Laber, but is recommended only for experienced hikers. The descent via Lake Soila provides impressive views of the countryside.

Laber ski resort

In winter, the Laber is one of Bavaria’s most challenging ski resorts; even the moderate valley descent is recommended only for experienced descenders. The footpaths to the valley are closed in winter.
