Hörnle

The Hörnle is the first mountain in the Ammergau Alps that rises from the alpine uplands and is Bad Kohlgrub’s local mountain.
It forms one of a group of three peaks: Vorderes Hörnle (1484 m), Mittleres Hörnle (1496 m) and Hinteres Hörnle (1548 m).
There is also the Stierkopf (1535 m) in the south.

Numerous hiking paths, a mountain railway, a serviced cabin and a ski run make the Hörnle an attractive destination for visitors and mountaineers at any time of the year. From the summit you can enjoy wonderful views over the alpine upland and the Bavarian lakes as well as the peaks of Wetterstein, Karwendel and the Ammergau Alps.

The easiest way up to the Hörnle is to take the well-maintained paths from Bad Kohlgrub up to the summit. Another route starts at Kappel near Unterammergau.
